Borealis BioDesign LLC was founded by Damian Menning Ph.D., a molecular biologist with 18 years of experience in environmental DNA (eDNA) research and bioinformatic tool development.

After a decade at the U.S. Geological Survey, first as a Geneticist, then as a Research Geneticist, he launched Borealis BioDesign LLC to provide researchers with the specialized molecular tools needed to advance topics such as biodiversity monitoring, invasive species detection and monitoring, diet analysis, species distribution and movement, microbiome analysis, and ecosystem health assessment. 

The mission of Borealis BioDesign is simple: to deliver precise, high-quality metabarcodes, custom curated reference libraries, and tailored project solutions that empower scientific discovery worldwide from the heart of Alaska.
